Remember, prior to TS3’s release, how there supposed to be something like 80 traits in the final game? Did you notice the number gradually decline as newer previews came out? Well, EA left the traits they cut out in the open (well, in the string files) for all to see. The only traces of them are in the STBL and in some cases leftover icons made for them. Otherwise they receive no mention in the core scripts, so it’s safe to presume that they are not ‘locked’ or ‘secret’ or anything. Also, these aren’t the hidden traits you get from NPC-breeding like Pyromaniac – those have their own descriptions too, but technically they are functional traits.
Anyway, I present the Lost Traits and their descriptions here, directly from the STBL, in the hope that if/when EA ‘adds’ these new traits to an expansion it will be blatantly obvious what they’re doing. Where there were two different descriptions, I smooshed them together.
- Boring Sims spout yawn inducing conversation topics that put others to sleep. Their jokes are terrible and they don’t appreciate the funny jokes of others. Oftentimes they are satisfied doing nothing. Not the most interesting folk, Boring Sims won’t often be the instigators of riveting conversation.
- Braggarts enjoy talking about how awesome they are (even if they aren’t) to others, all the time. Braggarts don’t lack confidence, nor will they be confused for humbler Sims. Nobody gets more joy out of hearing themselves talk.
- Sims that are Chess Masterminds always know exactly what to do with every piece on the board several moves before their opponents. Sims that are Chess Masterminds are far beyond your average player. Their logical thoughts typically move 5 moves ahead of the average Sim – plan your next move well.
- Conversationalists love a good conversation with family and friends. They can keep almost any conversation from going south. Conversationalists love a good conversation.
- Crybabies have a tearful reaction to negative situations. They won’t get mad, they won’t get even, they’ll just cry. Crybabies aren’t afraid to let their ocular aqueducts flow, so bring some tissues.
- Sugar and excess calories just aren’t for Sims that Disdain Dessert. For these Sims, desserts are off the menu.
- Dreamers dream big! They never settle for the small stuff and are rewarded more when their wishes are satisfied. Dreamers reach for the stars and never take it for granted when they get there.
- Easily Bored Sims find small talk incredibly mundane. They also need to be entertained more frequently than the average Sim. Sims should keep the conversation fast-paced and exciting if they want to keep Easily Bored Sims entertained.
- Gloomy Sims see the negative side of everything and are rarely pleased. The sun doesn’t shine for all Sims, even when it’s clearly shining outside. Some Sims are just Gloomy and that’s how they like it.
- Sims that are Good at Massages give amazing massages. They have the gift of incredible hands. Without formal training, Sims that are Good at Massages know just how to give someone an amazing massage.
- Greedy Sims desire money with every fiber of their being. It drives them throughout life and at every turn.
- Sims that Hate Computers will never use a computer willingly. They hate the machines, for no apparent reason. Maybe they’re stuck in the dark ages. Perhaps they fear the machines. Whatever it is, Sims that hate computers won’t be logging on any time soon.
- Sims that Hate Reading will never willingly pick up a book to read unless forced to do so. They always prefer to spend their time in other ways. Often at odds with Bookworms, Sims that hate reading find it difficult to settle down to a good book.
- Hugs are hard to get just right. There are some great huggers out there, though. The best hugs are given by those who Like Giving Hugs! Hugs are hard to get just right. Although there are some great huggers out there, the best hugs are given by those who Like Giving Hugs!

- Rude Sims love to mock and insult others with harsh words. A sneer is often found on their faces, and apologies never escape their lips. Rude Sims are quick to insult and cold when most would offer an apology. It’s probably okay to not expect the best behavior from these callous individuals.
- [Ruffian] Sims love to fight, mostly because they never lose in a brawl. They take satisfaction with every new Enemy made and dream of new ways to be nasty to others. Sims that are Ruffians are typically up for a brawl. The decision is easier to make when you know you’ll never lose, naturally. (Description reads “Mean” rather than “Ruffian”)
- Shy Sims will never approach anyone that isn’t a friend and tend to stick to their rooms if they are able. They are also uncomfortable around large crowds of people. Shy Sims prefer to socialize in small groups of close friends, because it’s really hard for them to open up to newcomers.

- Wanton – No description
- Worrywarts are easily stressed by the smallest problem and have a hard time getting back to a normal, relaxed state of mind. They take solace in sharing their worries with others.
